It's not only cards with 0 per cent offers on purchases that are popular in the run-up to Christmas. Cards that reward you for spending are a great option for those who pay off their credit card bill each month. And The AA has joined the reward card club.

The card is available to everyone, although members get a more generous rate of reward. For every 1 spent on motoring costs, including car servicing, tyres, MOTs and fuel, AA members will earn 2 points. Non-members earn 1 point per 1 spent. For all other purchases AA members stand to earn 1 point per 1 spent, with non-members earning 1 point per 2. Points can be redeemed against a range of products from car and home insurance to high street vouchers and experience days.

The card has an interest-free period on balance transfers and some purchases which lasts until November 2010 but only on motoring products and fuel. You'll be charged interest at the standard rate of 16.9 per cent on any other purchases.
