TEENAGERS and children are warned by the Consumers' Association magazine Check It Out] against investing in some of the savings accounts marketed at young people. Many accounts are said to offer a free gift or some other gimmick but they are also likely to offer a rate that is lower than the equivalent rates for adults. The Woolwich for Kids account pays 1 per cent but the comparable adult account, Prime Gold, pays an extra 0.15 per cent.

Check It Out] is available from Membership Services, Consumers' Association, PO Box 44, Hertford, SG14 1SH.
