When it comes to the birth certificates of their children, Prince William and Kate Middleton like to keep their occupations and various titles simple - they're listed on their children's birth certificates as simply the “Prince and Princess of the United Kingdom.”

Proving the newest royal has some pretty impressive parents, the couple listed their official royal occupations on the birth certificate of their third child, Prince Louis, which was released by Kensington Palace.

And it turns out, their occupations as the Prince and Princess of the United Kingdom, which are also listed on Princess Charlotte and Prince George’s birth certificates, are technically accurate for both William and Kate.

As the next in line to the throne behind his father, Prince Charles, William has always been a Prince - born His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales.

However, he did dabble in other careers before settling into his duties as a father-of-three and a stay-at-home prince.

Prior to marrying his college sweetheart, Catherine Middleton, William joined the Royal Military, where he received his commission as a second lieutenant in the Household Cavalry in December 2006.

Two years later, Prince William was appointed to be a Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and has since joined the Royal Air Force as a pilot.

For Kate Middleton, her title and subsequent occupation as “Princess of the United Kingdom” didn’t exist prior to her marriage in 2011.

And despite claims that you can only be born a princess, Kate is a princess through her marriage to a prince - although it would be incorrect to refer to her as Princess Catherine or Princess Kate.

Prior to marrying Prince William, Kate worked multiple jobs, including as an accessory buyer with the British retailer Jigsaw and for her family’s event planning company, Party Pieces.

The mother-of-three was also, and still is, a philanthropist - as is her husband.

When she married Prince William, Kate gained the title of Her Royal Highness, Duchess of Cambridge, which she commonly uses, and the title of her husband - meaning she became Princess William of Wales, according to Town and Country magazine.

However, when it comes to official documents, such as the birth certificate of their third son, it is simply easier to refer to themselves as the Prince of the United Kingdom and the Princess of the United Kingdom.

Prince Louis Arthur Charles was born on Monday April 23 2018, weighing 8lb 7oz and is fifth in line to the throne, after both his siblings.
