Roads: £100m more to tackle potholes
After the cut in fuel duty, motorists had further reason to cheer as an extra £100m was promised for tackling potholes.
The funds, which will be given to councils to repair highways damaged by the cold winter weather, are on top of the £100m allocated last month. The Government said the money was part of its proposals for improving Britain's infrastructure.
But David Brennan, boss of the fleet car company LeasePlan UK, said the sum was "likely to be a drop in the ocean". "Anybody who has driven recently knows the roads are littered with potholes after the severe winter," he added.
