June celebrates a host of health awareness days ranging from fitness, healthy lifestyle promotion and global health awareness. This week Y@GL is accepting inquiries to attend their 10,000 person yoga event, PSFK/UNICEF are collecting innovative health and fitness ideas and the world focuses on the harmful effects of tobacco use, targeting young girls, and UNAIDS is looking for 2,000 volunteers to help out at AIDS 2010.

UNICEF and the business culture blog PSFK have joined forces to ask you to help them monitor "key trends that impact health and wellbeing" to find new innovations and partners that can translate into deliverable health solutions for children worldwide. The target areas of innovation are health, education, fitness, remote working, data use and the web, and children's products and services. If you have an idea, then submit an online form before early June and you never know how many lives you could impact.

World Blood Donor Day

This year the campaign is "New blood for the world" with targeted efforts to get youth worldwide to donate blood not just on June 14 but more regularly without rewards. To be a blood donor, a healthy lifestyle is required, and for the first time the day will have a 2010 global launch event in Barcelona, Spain, hosted by the Spanish and Catalonian Health Care Authorities, the Spanish and Catalonian donor associations and the Spanish Red Cross. Dateline 2010: Global Health Goals & Metrics

Global Health Council's 37th Annual International Conference on Global Health will chart the progress on the world's global health goals with over 2,500 practitioners, global health and world leaders, activists, multi-lateral organizations, public and private sector health professionals, academics and researchers through the evaluation of health programs and performance effectiveness. During the week-long event a number of awards will be announced including the Gates Award for Global Health and media in health awards.

Mind Over Madness Yoga

Annual summer solstice event where the world is invited to Times Square, similar to watching the New Year's ball drop, except you need to bring your yoga mat to take part in the free yoga festival. The goal is to find "tranquility and transcendence in the midst of the urban energy of the world's most commercial and frenetic place" with one of the day's scheduled free yoga classes (available from 7:30am to 6pm). Ten thousand people will stretch out on the Great Lawn in New York's Central Park for the ‘world's largest yoga event ever', Y@GL. Global health activists and organizations will launch a series of campaigns and events surrounding both the G8 and G20 Summits this June in Canada including the launch of Save the Children's EVERY ONE campaign to mobilize millions of people globally to demand government action in achieving the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. Live 8, a global network of ten AIDS awareness concerts, will not be taking place but there are whispers of a smaller event proposed by a Facebook group "G8 Make Promises Happen."

Right Here, Right Now is the theme for this year's high-level meeting to hold world leaders and donors accountable as the 2010 deadline approaches for ensuring universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support. Also greater attention will be on the rapid growth of the epidemic in Central and Eastern Europe via injection drugs and more focus on human rights and care for vulnerable populations.
