The average child will produce more than 2,000 arts and crafts pieces for their parents before they reach the age of 12, a new poll has suggested.
While 79 per cent of the 2,000 parents surveyed said they would display all of these at some point, they face an uphill struggle to find space for the mass of drawings, cards and ceramics.
As a result, respondents typically displayed their children’s creations for around nine months, before taking them down in order to make way for new items.
The poll also suggested three quarters of parents have kept the first arts and crafts item their child ever created for them.
The majority save their children’s arts and crafts items in a box to give to them when they are older, and report feeling happy every time they sift through it.

Half of those surveyed believe their child has genuine artistic talent.
“Creativity is a massive part of a child’s development and as the results show, they are incredibly prolific," said Jo Hollins of BIC UK and Ireland, which commissioned the poll. "Of course, making room for every item is no mean feat.”
She added: "The research shows the huge sentimental value all arts and crafts can have for parents – effectively telling the story of their children through art."
