Buckingham Palace releases new images of Princess Beatrice’s wedding

Princess Beatrice wore a vintage dress borrowed from the Queen for her wedding to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, new photographs reveal.

The ivory gown was designed by British couturier Norman Hartnell, and is made from Peau De Soie taffeta.

It features a square neckline with organza puff sleeves in addition to diamanté and checkered bodice.

The Queen’s dressmaker Angela Kelly and bridal designer Stewart Parvin both worked with the Princess to ensure the gown was remodelled to fit her.

Buckingham Palace has released two official photographs from the ceremony, one of which shows the Princess and Mr Mapelli Mozzi emerging from their ceremony together while another shows them standing arm in arm at a short distance from the Queen and Prince Philip.

HRH famously wore the same gown to the 1962 premiere of Lawrence of Arabia at the Odeon in Leicester Square, London.

A photograph from the occasion reveals that back then the dress did not feature puff sleeves but had simple straps.

Additionally, the skirt of the gown was in a puffball silhouette, while for Beatrice it had been redone so that the hem of the skirt gently grazed the floor.

Princess Beatrice wore the gown with a veil and a tiara.

The Queen, meanwhile, wore it with long white gloves and a crown.

The Princess’s wedding ceremony took place on Friday in private at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Beatrice, who was originally scheduled to marry Mr Mapelli Mozzi in May, was forced to postpone her nuptials due to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the couple adhered to strict social distancing guidelines on the day.

Prince Philip also attended the service along with about 20 other guests, including Beatrice’s parents Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York.

“The private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11am on Friday 17th July at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor,” the statement read.

“The small ceremony was attended by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and close family.

“The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant government guidelines.”
