Model Nykhor Paul blasts makeup artists for making her 'feel bad' about having darker skin

The catwalk model has hit out at makeup artists on social media for being unprepared for darker skin tones.

Model Nykhor Paul who made her name walking the runway in fashion shows and starring in editorial shoots including this shoot for The Independent, has launched an attack on makeup artists for failing to cater to darker complexions.

Established Sudanese model Paul, who has been working in the industry for half a decade has countless catwalk shows for the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Rick Owens and Calvin Klein under her belt.

Paul who is also an activist who has headed up campaigns to highlight violence in South Sudan, shared her thoughts on the issue on Instagram in a passionate plea which she addressed to "white people in the fashion world."

"Please don't take this the wrong way but it's time you people get your s**t right when it comes to our complexion! Why do I have to bring my own makeup to a professional show when all the other white girls don't have to do anything but show up wtf!" Paul complained.

"Don't try to make me feel bad because I am blue black its 2015 go to Mac, Bobbi Brown, Makeup forever, Iman cosmetic, black opal, even Lancôme and Clinique carried them plus so much more. there's so much options our there for dark skin tones today. A good makeup artist would come prepare and do there research before coming to work."

"That goes for NYC, London, Milan, Paris and Cape Town plus everywhere else that have issues with black skin tones. Just because you only book a few of us doesn't mean you have the right to make us look ratchet," she continued.

Paul's rant has been greeted with praise with fans expressing their support on the post which has attracted more than 3,000 likes on Instagram.

Paul's plea draws attention to the issue of lack of diversity in not only the cosmetics world but also more widely in the fashion industry.
