As the second stage reaches a conclusion it would appear that Britain's David Millar is in the leading group going into the closing stages, with 15km, and one steep climb, to go.

Reports state that none of the riders that finished ahead of him yesterday and in the group, which as Millar dinished fourth yesterday, would make him the virtual leader of the race.

With the carnage of yesterday's stage Team Sky will be looking to keep Chris Froome safe.

Marcel Kittel, the holder of the yellow jersey after yesterday is at least six minutes off the pace of the leading group.
