Rune Factory Frontier is tricky to define; part farming simulator, part action game, it’s as much about building relationships with fellow inhabitants of Tranrupia as it is fighting in nearby dungeons. Players can choose to expand their house, grow crops, fish, even rear monsters – in fact, potential activities are so varied that it can be overwhelming. Persevere, though, and soon the town takes shape, leaving you free to tackle dungeons and even woo Tranrupia’s ladies. If you have the spare time, Frontier is as deep, rewarding and charming as anything on Wii.
