Global election

Who would win the US Presidential election if we all had a vote? Wishful thinking maybe (ok, definitely), but The Economist’s Global Electoral College allows everyone in the world to cast a vote. Fair’s fair, seeing as the political whimsies of Obama or McCain will have implications for all of us. (Vote the global vote here )

In the Goop

Gywneth Paltrow has launched a lifestyle website to, in her own words, “nourish the inner aspect.” There’s little there yet beyond a mission statement which sounds rather like a Coldplay lyric (while the site’s name, “Goop.com”, sounds like it could be Apple’s preferred brand of baby food). Here comes the chorus…“Treat yourself to something. Go to a city you've never been to. Learn something new. Don't be lazy. Workout and stick with it. GOOP. Make it great.” ( www.goop.com )

Fashion avatars

Who says the fashion pack doesn’t have a sense of humour? Style.com, the online home of US Vogue and first-stop for streaming live from the Milan catwalk shows this week, has transformed guest correspondents into animated avatars. As they spill the latest front-row gossip, these chic little ‘toons smile, squint and even follow your cursor with their (perfectly blue) eyes. Bella! (See them here)

Dying laughing

Matt Lucas and David Walliams have launched a UK franchise of Will Ferrell’s popular comedy website, Funny or Die, which features comic clips from the likes of Sarah Silverman and Paris Hilton. The UK site will host the American content alongside homegrown fare, including preview skits from Lucas and Walliams’ Little Britain USA. ( www.funnyordie.co.uk )
