Jeremy Clarkson hosts Who Wants to be a Millionaire: 'There's one big change'

Jeremy Clarkson made his Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? debut last night (5 May), replacing Chris Tarrant for the first of seven episodes to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The revamped format saw the rules of ITV's beloved quiz show tweaked with an additional lifeline placing the controversial former Top Gear host under the spotlight.

Judging by social media, it seems audiences are responding largely well to the presenter's debut despite hesitance in addmitting such a fact.

However, there were those who remained firm in their criticism of Clarkson highlighting his lack of support for the struggling contestant's - three of which left with just £1,000.

The long-running ratings hit, which aired its final episode in 2014, was one of the most popular game shows across the world.

It became a cultural phenomenon, with its catchphrases and lifelines of 50/50, ask the audience and phone a friend. The series hit the headlines in 2001 after a 'coughing' scandal which saw Charles Ingram cheat his way to the jackpot.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? continues tonight (6 May) at 9pm on ITV and will continue nightly over the course of the week.
