The Weather Channel asks Breitbart to stop using its videos to deny climate change

'There should be no assumption that The Weather Company endorses the article associated with it'

Weather.com has politely asked Breitbart to stop repurposing its video clips to mislead Americans about climate change.

“Though we would prefer to focus on our usual coverage of weather and climate science, in this case we felt it important to add our two cents,” The Weather Channel wrote, citing a specific article in which the right-wing site claims: “The last three years may eventually come to be seen as the final death rattle of the global warming scare."

The channel noted that Breitbart has the legal right to use its clips due to a content-sharing agreement with another company, but wanted to be clear that it in no way endorses its climate change-denying stance.

“In fact,” The Weather Channel noted, thousands of researchers and scientific societies are in agreement that greenhouse gases produced by human activity are warming the planet’s climate and will keep doing so.”

It went on to examine and debunk a number of claims in the Breitbart article, which first appeared in a Daily Mail piece.
