Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell could soon be returning to their popular Prison Break roles as a limited revival series is reportedly in the works over at Fox.

The US prison drama about a man desperate to save his innocent brother from death row ran for four seasons from 2005 to 2009.

Details of the comeback are vague at this stage, but TVLine believes it will be similar to last year's 24 revival Live Another Day with around a dozen episodes and a closed-ended plotline.

Miller and Purcell have been working together since Prison Break, keeping their bromance alive on superhero show The Flash and reuniting soon for DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

Both actors said recently that when they "floated the idea to Fox very casually" about a Prison Break return, "they seemed very not casual and seemed to think there was something there".

Gary Newman, Fox co-chairman, said Prison Break would make "the perfect event series" at the Television Critics Association press tour in January but insisted at the time that there were no plans to set the wheels into motion.

Fox is not commenting on reports of a revival but with them popping up all over the place (The X Files, Full House, Twin Peaks) it seems reasonable to hope.
