Following a tremendous first season, Jessica Jones returns to Netflix, the flawed and enigmatic superhero exacting justice on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen.

Considering how there’s been much discussion about gender representation both behind and in front of the camera in Hollywood, the second season comes at an extremely appropriate time.

Led by the charismatic Krysten Ritter — backed by Rachael Taylor, Carrie-Anne Moss, Leah Gibson — the latest 13 episodes have all been directed by women, as chosen by showrunner Melissa Rosenberg.

The Independent has an exclusive featurette on season two, featuring many of the creatives from the show discussing the upcoming series along with some new snippets of footage.

“It’s not necessarily about a woman’s perspective,” says Rosenberg. “It’s about a balanced perspective. A powerful female protagonist, or female director, or female showrunner — that shouldn’t be unique.” Watch above.

Jessica Jones season two — which will also see Eka Darville and David Tennant return to the series as Malcolm and Kilgrave, respectively — debuts on Netflix 8 March.
