First Dates contestant gives date a knitted 'willy warmer' as a gift

Viewers of the Channel 4 reality series First Dates were left scandalised after one contestant shared an unusual gift with her dinner date.

The popular series sees volunteers paired with a blind date for a romantic dinner, which is then filmed for broadcast.

During last night's episode (9 February), hopeful singleton Jean was paired with two-time divorcee Roger.

Showing up to the meal, Jean revealed that she had in fact knitted her date a present: a "willy warmer", intended to keep one's genitals from getting cold.

The gift provided plenty of laughs and innuendos for the couple during their meal, but more so for the viewers at home.

"The grandma who knitted her date a Willy warmer is life," wrote one viewer, alongside a "raised hands" emoji.

“The fact that she handed it to him with such ease and he just took it as banter. These two are couple goals,” said another.

"So does the Willy warmer just stay on, is it elasticated, is there some string to tie it up?," joked one viewer. "So many questions."

Another described it as "wild", while someone else wrote: "Ummm what? My brain didn't process that at all. Willy warmer???? But why?"

First Dates continues on Channel 4 next Tuesday at 10pm.
