Note to David Schwimmer: if you’re trying to escape Friends for a serious true crime biopic, don’t let them cast someone from the sitcom as the very first person you interact with on screen.

Schwimmer, who plays Robert Kardashian in FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson, is first seen in the premiere episode embracing O.J. Simpson’s attorney Howard Weitzman:

Recognise him?

That’s Ken Lerner, who played Professor Spafford in Friends episode ‘The One with the Soap Opera Party’, a lecturer who bored Ross and Charlie to tears at a dinner.

It’s been a good week for people who like seeing members of the Friends cast stand within 10 metres of each other. NBC today posted a teaser for its All-Star Tribute to James Burrows, which sees Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and Jennifer Aniston reunited.

Matthew Perry was the only major cast member missing - currently directing his own play in London’s West End.

The People v. O.J. Simpson is a true crime anthology series from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck - the brains behind hit horror anthology series American Horror Story. Ten episodes in length, it focuses on the murder trial of former American Football player OJ Simpson who was charged with the murder of two people, including his ex-wife, in 1994. It airs in the UK on BBC Two later this month.
