Alesha Dixon responds to Diversity trolls: 'They can kiss my black ass'

Thousands complained over the dance routine that incorporated references to events of 2020

Alesha Dixon has responded to the people complaining about dance troupe Diversity’s Black Lives Matter-themed performance on Britain’s Got Talent.

More than 10,000 people have now complained about the performance that explored events of 2020 so far, including the BLM protests and the coronavirus pandemic.  

Some viewers criticised the performance for being “too political” for a Saturday night entertainment programme.

Diversity members said they have been “bombarded” by hateful messages from trolls in the days since the TV event.

Stand-in judge and Diversity member Ashley Banjo shared a screenshot he was sent, which suggested he and other black stars such as Lewis Hamilton should not discuss racism.

“For the people sending this: You do not represent or speak for the Great British public. 2. Silence was never and will never be an option. 3. Change is inevitable... Get used to it,” he wrote in response.

Dixon added her own comment to Banjo’s post, expressing support and dismissing critics with the short quip: “[They] can kiss my black ass!”

Banjo also received support from celebrities including Clara Amfo, Aston Merrygold and former JLS star JB Gill.
