THE GIG

Goldie

The king of jungle's latest roadshow. Thanks to the electronics, the stage will be notably free of "real" musicians, and the chattering bass and drum patterns will probably shake your fillings loose, but it's the clear winner of the "hippest thing of the week" award.

Weds, Brighton Paradox (01273 709709)

THE PLAY

The Ends of the Earth

Samantha Bond, who gave a controlled yet violently emotional performance in Le Cid, returns in the latest play by David Lan, who teams up again with director Andrei Serban and designer Richard Hudson.

In preview, opens Thurs, Cottesloe, National Theatre, London SE1 (0171- 928 2252)

THE CONCERT

Gundula Janowitz

A programme of Schubert, Schumann and Richard Strauss by the now rarely seen German soprano with the gorgeously creamy voice. Her recording of the "Four Last Songs" could cause you to die of pleasure.

Thurs, St John's Smith Square, London SW1 (0171-222 1061)
