Album: Ska Cubano, Ajiaco!: the Remix Album, (Casino Sounds)
We can all tire eventually from having a bass drum use our head as a punchbag, which is why remix albums are rarely a good idea. From the off, Brazil's Frank Da Lata's take on "Babine" manages to remain captivating for over six minutes simply by going full-on bombastic samba, and keeping all the great solos in. Most of the remixers experiment a little, but also keep their party hats on, and so the original spirit remains.
