The industry dictates that whether you're The Maccabees, The Cribs or Mystery Jets, every new album must include at least one song for the lads to jump around to at the indie disco, and "Someone Purer" fulfils that function.

If the mature, reflective, intelligent, Americana-inflected Radlands is judged on that, rather than, say, the bracingly cynical title track or the droll record-collection tug-of-love of "Greatest Hits", it will be a medium-sized injustice.
