Album: John Hammond, Rough and Tough, (Chesky)
An umptysquillionth album by the son of the man who discovered Bob Dylan, a veteran bluesman with all the payable dues duly signed and docketed except for the unfixable fact of his whiteness.
The audiophile Chesky label has recorded him alone with his collection of guitars and harps (all listed by make and luthier) as he tackles a 15-song programme of originals (lots of Muddy Waters), a Tom Waits ("Get Behind the Mule") and "Chattanooga Choo-Choo". Good, authentic, lupine stuff but not pretty.
