This French singer-songwriter's second album embraces chanson, doo-wop and early rock'n'roll, so, appropriately enough, it was recorded using vintage mics straight to two-inch tape.

But Joelle's sensuous purred vocals and sprightly jazzy songs lend proceedings a contemporary edge while circumventing mere nostalgia. The sassy "So What" is a sure-fire hit and a delightful cover of Django's "Coucou" makes you want to get on the next flight to Paris.
