The first Union Station album since 2004 is, as usual, something to treasure.

The band's virtuosity is perhaps best expressed in the subtle flourishes which detail the more emotional songs, like Jerry Douglas's achingly beautiful dobro on the title-track and Krauss's tremendously moving vocal on Richard Thompson's "Dimming of the Day". Elsewhere, there are dazzling unison passages in Depression lament "Dustbowl Children", which Dan Tyminski sings with a voice of weatherbeaten oak, and glistening ambient use of violin and lap steel on the disquieting "Lie Awake". But the true measure of their skills is the way the jaunty setting of "My Love Follows You Where You Go" still manages to evoke the melancholy of departure.
