The Jonas Brothers split: 'It's over for now'

Middle brother Joe said the split was a 'unanimous decision'

Pop-rock group The Jonas Brothers have broken up following rumours that there was a deep rift forming between the siblings.

The trio cancelled a tour in early October after tweeting: “Please hold while we get our s**t together.” Since then, Kevin, the eldest Jonas brother, told People magazine “It’s over for now.”

Disney stars Nick, 21, Joe, 24, and Kevin, 25, found success in the US but were less lucky in the UK.

Globally, they were left in the dust following the success of other acts with a tween demographic including former X-Factor finalists One Direction, and Canadian singer Justin Bieber.

Joe said the split was a “unanimous decision.” Nick added: “It’s really hard to say [it’s] forever. We’re closing a chapter, for sure.”

The Jonas Brothers sold eight million albums worldwide. However, their most successful UK single was 2007′s "SOS" which reached number 13 in the UK top 40.

The band's third and fourth studio albums A Little Bit Longer and Lines, Vines And Trying Times both reached number one on the US Billboard chart and were Top 20 hits in the UK.

The group has not yet issued an official statement regarding the split on their website.
