New festival from Glastonbury team to arrive in 2019, says Emily Eavis

The plans are yet to be confirmed but organiser Eavis has said that fans can 'probably' expect the special event in three years

Emily Eavis has confirmed that a new event from the Glastonbury team will arrive, “probably in 2019”.

The festival organiser has debunked rumours that the legendary festival will be leaving Worthy Farm for a larger site, but hinted that plans are underway for a separate, as-yet-untitled shebang from the same organisers.

“We are going to do a show somewhere else with the same team behind Glastonbury but it hasn’t got a name yet and we’re still not entirely sure what shape it’s going to take,” she told the Guardian. “For now we’re all focused on Worthy Farm. We’re not thinking too far down that road because we’re quite busy with this one at the moment!”

Eavis tweeted about the mysterious “big event” earlier this month, writing that it is being planned “elsewhere for 2018 or 2019”. She is yet to confirm which year will be a fallow year with no Glastonbury.

Eavis has also revealed that the team almost booked the late “Purple Rain” singer Prince for the Pyramid Stage multiple times. “He confirmed about three times than pulled out in recent years,” she said. “Unfortunately it never happend. I don’t know why, but I think there was always a lot of tabloid rumour which didn’t help.”

Glastonbury takes place from 22 to 26 June, with Adele, Coldplay and Muse headlining. The full line-up and stage times have just been announced, so you can check for clashes ahead of the gates opening.
