Mariah Carey has revealed that she tries to avoid listening to any Christmas music until after Thanksgiving.
The news may come as a surprise to fans of the "Queen of Christmas", whose track "All I Want For Christmas is You " is considered one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time. The song earns Carey a reported £376,000 in royalties each year alone.
Carey, who is currently celebrating the release of her 15th studio album, Caution, appeared on The Tonight Show Jimmy Fallon .
During the interview, Fallon asked her a question many people must wonder, which was when it is appropriate to start listening to holiday music.
She also revealed that when her label approached her about the idea for a Christmas song she wondered if it was "kind of early" in her career to release something festive-themed.
"I have this rule where I try to get through Thanksgiving," she answered, of listening to festive music ahead of Christmas. "I don't like when people rush it because once I start I don't stop until after New Year's. I can't help it!"
Carey and Fallon went on to discuss how her soundtrack album Glitter became the No 1 album on iTunes thanks to a fan campaign.

"[The album] almost ruined my life," Carey said. "It was a tough time when it came out, it was a whole thing. The fact that Glitter even came back as a thing... But it is a good album and the fans made it happen, I had nothing to do it. It's a movement, and it's bigger than me."
