March for Our Lives: Taylor Swift donates to 'show my support for the students'

'No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence. Or to a nightclub. Or to a concert. Or to a movie theater. Or to their place of worship'

Taylor Swift has shown her support for gun control, making a donation to March for Our Lives.

The largely apolitical musician posted the march's logo to Instagram, with the caption: "No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence. Or to a nightclub. Or to a concert. Or to a movie theater. Or to their place of worship."

"I’ve made a donation to show my support for the students, for the March For Our Lives campaign, for everyone affected by these tragedies, and to support gun reform. I’m so moved by the Parkland High School students, faculty, by all families and friends of victims who have spoken out, trying to prevent this from happening again."

Hundreds of thousands of students across the country will take to the streets on Saturday in demand for gun reform; though the main event is in Washington, there are protests planned in New York, Los Angeles, and hundreds of communities across the US.

The march was initiated by student survivors of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on Valentine's Day, in which 17 people were killed.

Many celebrities are set to speak at and participate in the marches. George and Amal Clooney, Jimmy Fallon, Cher, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, and Common are amongst those set to attend the Washington D.C. march.

Amy Schumer, Olivia Wilde, Yara Shahidi, Connie Britton, Skai Jackson, Meg Donnelly, Ta’Rhonda Jones, Cappie Pondexter, and Jacob Sartorius are amongst those set to attend the LA march.
