Arctic Monkeys fans furious as tour tickets appear on tout sites for over £4,000

'It’s easier to buy a gun in the USA than Arctic Monkeys tickets in the UK'

Dates on the Arctic Monkeys upcoming UK tour sold out within minutes, the band adding multiple extra shows to supply the huge demand.

Fans were desperately logging into ticketing websites at 9am this morning, hoping to secure tickets before they disappeared.

Despite basic measures being put in place to stop touts selling on tickets, Manchester, London, Sheffield, Dublin, and Newcastle dates sold out before 10.30am.

“Mad how it’s easier to buy a gun in the USA than Arctic Monkeys tickets in the UK,” wrote one disgruntled social media user.

“How did Arctic Monkeys tickets literally sell out in a minute, I was ready finger on buzzer dead on 9am,” wrote another, while one said: “It's easier to get a reservation at Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino than Arctic Monkeys tickets right now and that doesn't even exist.”

Many Twitter users also expressed outrage after tickets appeared on Viagogo. While the majority ranged from £100 to £400, one set of tickets for London’s O2 appeared on the resellers website for £4,840, as reported by Evening Standard.

See Tickets has since reminded fans that buying tickets from touts will prove an issue as the purchasers name will be printed on all tickets and they will be required to attend the gig for the rest of the party to get in.

“We’d just like to remind everyone that all Arctic Monkeys tickets require the surname of the Lead Booker to be printed on all tickets,” they wrote on Twitter.

“The name cannot be changed once the booking has been made. Please do not buy from secondary agents or touts as these tickets will be invalid.”

Arctic Monkeys will be supporting their new album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, the follow-up to 2013’s AM. The record features 11 tracks produced by James Ford and singer-songwriter Alex Turner.

According to the announcement, the album ”ups the ante in a big way” making for a “bold and brilliant album reflecting Turner’s ever more comprehensive creative vision.”
