SHORTS Battersea Arts Centre, SW11 (0171 223 2223) Thurs-Sun Six mini-operas presented by the company Tete-a-Tete, who did a memorable Fledermaus at Battersea last year.

EDINBURGH FESTIVAL (0131 473 2000) to 4 Sept Charles Mackerras conducts Schumann symphonies, Mon & Sat. On Tues & Wed Edinburgh's resident pianist Andrs Schiff performs Bach's Partitas. Bernard Haitink repeats the Mahler 3 he's just done in the Proms (Wed). And Lorraine Hunt joins the line-up for Rossini's Stabat Mater (Fri).
