Letter: Usage and abusage

Sir: Janet Menage, in complaining about "video's for hire" (letter, 30 April) fails to realise that these purveyors of pleasure are, by using the apostrophe, correctly noting that video is the shortened form of videotape. I often take one to bed with me when suffering from 'flu'.
