Sir: One reason for British Airways' declining popularity (reports, 26 May) may be its increasing use of "code-sharing", whereby an airline puts passengers on another company's plane. I recently returned from Australia on a BA ticket, but found that I and my family had been transferred to Qantas. When I tried to reconfirm our pre-assigned seats, I was told this wasn't possible since the two companies couldn't access each other's computers. Calls to the airlines suggested neither wanted to take responsibility for code-shared passengers and that their staff disliked the practice of code-sharing.
