A Texas cinema has launched the craziest Star Wars event seen yet in a bid to find the biggest fan of the sci-fi franchise.

Alamo Drafthouse in Austin city will screen all six movies in the saga back-to-back for seven hardcore fans, followed by endless repeats of The Force Awakens, until only one remains in their seat.

Sleeping is not allowed and breaks will be kept to a minimum. Food, drink and loo breaks are permitted but alking and texting are banned, to keep full attention on the movies. No illegal drugs either folks. This could easily last for days.

Tim League, CEO and founder of Alamo, said: “At Alamo Drafthouse we’re big fans of Star Wars and testing the boundaries of human endurance. What better way to anoint the ultimate super fan than inviting them to watch these remarkable films on the big screen until they drop? Literally.”

The competition will begin at 4.45am on Thursday 17 December, when The Force Awakens arrives in cinemas. Films will be shown in chronological order starting with Episode I: The Phantom Menace and anyone can apply to enter, so long as you’re aged 21 and over and live in one of the 13 states with an Alamo cinema.

All you need to do is share posts conveying your Star Wars dedication on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, using the #AlamoJedi hashtag. One entry per person, with the full rules listed here.

The winner will receive the grand prize of a seven-year pass to Alamo cinemas across the states, a selection of Star Wars Mondo poster prints, 2015 and 2016 Topps Star Wars Card Reader cards and a ceremony to name a cinema seat after them.

Similar contests have been undertaken before, notably three years ago when two Californians broke the global record for watching the most hours of television in one go. Fox cut the experiment short after 86 hours and 37 minutes of The Simpsons, presumably for health reasons.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens reaches UK cinemas on 17 December.
