Danny Dyer 'mistaken for taxi driver' while filming Run For Your Wife

Actor Danny Dyer said tonight he was mistaken for a taxi driver while making his new film Run For Your Wife.

The British hard man stars in the comedy as a black cab driver who has two wives, played by Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding and Denise Van Outen.

While shooting on location in London Dyer was recognised and people thought he had fallen on hard times.

He said at the premiere in Leicester Square: "They had to do some shots of me driving around Soho in the cab and people was like pulling me over and going, 'Dan, I know your career's going through a bit of a bad stage, but are you driving a cab now?'

"People actually believed it. It was a bit of a kick in the bum to be honest."

He added: "I loved making this film. I think I was born for comedy, I really do. It's just taken me a long time to find it."

Meanwhile, Harding insisted she isn't putting acting before her music career.

The 31-year-old singer has previously appeared in BBC drama Freefall and St Trinian's 2.

She said: "I'm not going off to Hollywood and all that jazz. I love singing, music's my first love. If the right role comes along I'd love to take it, but right now I'm focusing on the tour."

She is currently getting ready to tour with the band - Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts - this year to celebrate their 10th anniversary reunion.

Harding, who was wearing a sparkling gold dress by Azagury, admitted: "Rehearsals are hard work. There's a few aching muscles. But it's going to be worth it."

Directed by Ray Cooney and adapted from his hit West End stage show, Run For Your Wife features cameos from stars including Dame Judi Dench, Sir Cliff Richard, Lionel Blair, Barry Cryer, Rolf Harris and Richard Briers.

The film also stars Neil Morrissey and Christopher Biggins.

Van Outen said: "We met all the greats, we were completely star struck. But they were all lovely, and you just know if they're friends with Ray they're all nice people."

Many of Cooney's old acting friends turned out to support him, including Robert Lindsay, Sir David Jason, Prunella Scales and Timothy West, Tom Conti, June Whitfield, Sue Pollard, Samantha Bond and Honor Blackman.

Dyer's tough guy acting pal Tamer Hassan was also there.

He said: "Danny's going to be brilliant. He's the funniest man in the world.

"I really hope people give him a break this time. I really want him to do well, and I think he will."
