WHILE SCARCELY in the same class as This Sporting Life, one of the most memorable British films of the 1960s, Up'n'Under (9pm Sky Moviemax) is another film using rugby as a backdrop. In this comedy, adapted from the successful stage-play by John Godber, Samantha Janus plays a fitness instructor asked to train a team of incompetent players for a match against the champions of a pub rubgy league. For this satellite premiere, the stalwart cast of British telly stars includes Neil Morrissey, Griff Rhys Jones and Tony Slattery.

In Misery (10pm FilmFour), an unbearably tense thriller from Rob Reiner, Kathy Bates (right) shines as the obsessed No 1 fan of author James Caan. After saving him from a car crash, she takes him prisoner in her remote house. One to watch through splayed fingers.
