DANCE EVENT OF THE WEEK
Aspects of Dance Mon to 31 Jul On tour
Irrepressible and perhaps irresistible, Wayne Sleep teams up with City Ballet of London. City Ballet brings predictable classical highlights from Giselle, Swan Lake and such like. Sleep, never caught napping in 30 hyperactive years on stage, which began in ballet, applies his now rather brittle brio to flashy steps and jokes. Numbers include tap and jazz dance and a tribute to Torvill and Dean. He is also showing extracts from Savoy Suite, created six years ago for English National Ballet set to music by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Tour: St David's Hall, Cardiff (01222 878444) Mon; Octagon Theatre, Yeovil (01935 422884) Tue; Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage (01438 766866) Wed; Cliffs Pavilion, Southend (01702 351135) Thur and Fri; Marina Theatre, Lowestoft (01502 573318) 3 Jul; and then touring to 31 Jul
