Wild Abandon, By Joe Dunthorne

There are very few instances in which you really do "laugh out loud"; even less when a book proves so "unputdownable" that you read it one sitting.

Dunthorne's second novel may be the exception and have you tittering late into the night with its comic timing and its perceptive characterisation. Dunthorne bases his brother-sister adventure on the well-worn terrain of a badly functioning modern commune, but there is no cliche in sight. Instead, there is inventive, rollicking, bittersweet and beauteous prose. Utterly unputdownable - and you may laugh out loud.
