Liverpool are targeting a £22m move for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports.
The Armenia international scored an incredible 25 goals in the Ukrainian Premier League last season despite his role as an attacking midfielder, and as such has emerged as one of the most coveted players during the summer transfer window.
The player himself has also encouraged speculation, revealing earlier this year that he wanted to play for "one of the strongest clubs in the world".
Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona have all been touted as possible destinations for the 24-year-old, however Liverpool are the keenest to add him to their squad according to the reports.
The Reds have tracked him throughout the season and it's claimed that the club believe he would be open to a move to Anfield, despite the lack of European football on offer next season. It's understood Liverpool have registered their interest with Donetsk.
Liverpool's interest is not linked to the desire of Luis Suarez to leave the club, with a bid for Mkhitaryan being lined-up before their top scorer's candid comments in his native Uruguay.
