Arsenal lost at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United and missed the opportunity to regain their place inside the top four.

The Blades proved too good for their visitors, moving the ball well and rarely suffering threat to their own goal.

Lys Mousset scored the winning goal, turning in from close range. Re-live all the action:

Team news

Arsenal could welcome back as many as four players to Premier League action for the visit to Sheffield United.

Striker Alexandre Lacazette was back in full training this weekend and while it is unlikely he will be risked from the start, he could be among the substitues.

Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney have all accrued minutes in the Carabao Cup and Europa League this season, but the latter is the most advanced in his recovery and could come in for Sead Kolasinac.

Chris Wilder meanwhile has said he will give injured trio John Fleck, Oli McBurnie and David McGoldrick every opportunity to prove their fitness ahead of the game.

McGoldrick missed Republic of Ireland’s Euro 2020 qualifiers with the groin injury, while fellow striker McBurnie pulled out of the Scotland squad with a knee problem.

Predicted line-up

Sheffield United: Henderson, Basham, Egan, O’Connell, Baldock, Lundstram, Norwood, Osborn, Stevens, Robinson, Mousset

Prediction – Sheffield United 1-1 Arsenal

Arsenal’s last two Premier League away games have ended in score draws, and a similar fate could be in store for Unai Emery’s men in Sheffield.

While they have managed to fathom victory out of nowhere at the Emirates, Emery’s side have looked uninspiring for the majority of their games away from north London, except a brilliant first half not far from home at Watford.

Hope remains that Arsenal’s play will improve at both ends of the field once Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding return, but regardless of the 11 players to take the field Sheffield United will fancy their chances against a side won just once on the road in four attempts this season.

The Blades came agonisingly close to claiming a point against Liverpool, and having also held Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this season, they could increase their points tally on Monday night as well.

Three points for Arsenal tonight would see them move up to third in the Premier League, trailing Manchester City by one point and the leaders, Liverpool by seven.

For Sheffield United a victory would move them as high as seventh, depending on goal difference, and they could leapfrog teams such as Manchester United and Tottenham.

Lots the play for on a Monday night.

After being injured since September, Alexandre Lacazette makes the bench for Arsenal after recovering from injury.

England's game with Bulgaria over the international break put racism in football right under the microscope. This weekend saw the match between Haringey and Yeovil abandoned for racist abuse with more coming in the Premier League.

Manchester United had to eject a fan from Old Trafford over another incident:

But back to tonight. The last time Arsenal faced off against Sheffield United in the league Phil Jagielka was the makeshift hero for the Blades.

He was tasked with replacing the injured goalkeeper and helped United hold on to a 1-0 lead.

He's back at Bramall Lane tonight but starts on the bench.

Unai Emery gives his pre-match thoughts to Sky Sports:

"Each match is a big opportunity, and we want to keep the quality with which we are playing at home and away. Away, normally has been more difficult to win and today we know that we'll have difficulties on the pitch for 90 minutes.

"We need to try to impose our gameplan but they move a lot on the pitch and have good mobility so we need to be organised to control that."

Sheffield United have the best defence in the Premier League this season conceding only seven goal.

This is surprising considering Chris Wilder's vision for overlapping centre-backs mean they could have just one defender during a counter attack if it goes wrong.

Here come the two teams, who's going to come out on top tonight?

3 mins: Sheffield United win an early corner. Norwood takes it and plays it short, the ball then comes into the box but is blocked and goes out for a throw in. A couple of one touch passes get Stevens into the box and he wins another corner.

That ball comes in but is headed away by Arsenal.

6 mins: Arsenal win a few corners of their own. The last of which comes into the box but United are able to break with McGoldrick. He tries to find Mousset but Guendouzi tracks back to break down the attack.
