Joe Root and Tim Paine reflect on Ashes series after England take a draw in the last Test

Jonny Bairstow has been dropped from England’s Test side for the series against New Zealand.

The Yorkshire batsman featured throughout the Ashes but misses out for the two-match series against the Black Caps, though he will be involved in the 15-man IT20 squad.

Warwickshire opener Dominic Sibley is rewarded with his first call-up after a fine summer accumulating 1,324 runs in the County Championship, while Kent’s Zak Crawley is also included in captain Joe Root's squad, alongside Lancashire duo Saqib Mahmood and Matt Parkinson.

James Anderson continues to be unavailable after his calf injury, with the next goal to feature in the tour of South Africa this winter.

The two matches against the Black Caps will not contribute to the ICC’s World Test Championship.
