Pillow 'fight club' opens

An underground pillow fight club opened its doors to the public this week.

Taking inspiration from the movie Fight Club starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, more than 100 people joined the club to learn the rules and take to the ring.

Parents, children and friends fought each other with pillows as they aimed to top the leaderboard.

Points were awarded based on where the pillow strikes the body, with one point awarded for a leg shot, two for a torso shot and five for the head.

And in keeping with the original film, there was apparently one overarching rule: you do not talk about pillow fight club.

Other events took place in cities across the UK including Edinburgh, Cardiff and Bristol to celebrate the release of a new Premier Inn pillow.

The new pillows are being introduced across 800 hotels, with a chunk of the 400,000 leftover pillows used to launch pillow fight clubs across the UK.

Sarah Simpson, head of product at Premier Inn said: “Pillow fights are one of the few childhood ‘sports’ people can take through to adulthood and still be good at.

“Because of this, we thought pillow fight club would be the perfect way to use leftover pillows before they’re recycled and bring families together to have some fun.”
