Teenagers shout abuse at Asda staff in Gosport

A teenage boy who was filmed shouting verbal abuse at supermarket staff has been forced to apologise after his father found a video of his son had gone viral.

The offending video first emerged on Monday, showing two boys who hurled insults and threats at members of staff at an Asda branch in Gosport, Hampshire.

The clip, posted on Twitter, filmed one of the boys telling an employee: “I’ll jump on his head fam, do you understand? I’ll cut you up.”

The boys then picked up their bicycles and began cycling away, still shouting and cursing. The second boy said: “I’m going to come back here and f****** slice you up you little c***.”

To a passerby, he said: “What the f*** are you laughing at?”

Another bystander asked how old they were, to which one replied: “F***, how old are you? You look about 80.”

One of the teenagers did not get away with the abusive act, and was marched back to the store the next day by his father and made to apologise to the staff he yelled at.

The father posted the encounter on a local Facebook page and said: “For everyone who has seen a video of this boy threatening members of staff at Asda yesterday. As a dad I ave never been more disgusted and mortified with my son in my life.

“He has not been brought up to behave in this manner and I do not condone his behaviour at all. Just to let you all know, the police have been notified and evidence has been sent it, it is now over to them to decide what they wish to do.

“Also the police were notified at the first point of call when he was not back from his daily exercise. Both myself and my wife take the Covid-19 pandemic very seriously. I just want to point out for those who blame the parents this is not, and I repeat not, how we have brought him up,” he added.

The post has since been removed from the Facebook group, but a screen grab was posted on Twitter by the same person who posted the original video.

Hampshire Police said: “We received a report just after 4.30pm on 13 April regarding an assault at the Asda store on Dock Road, Gosport.

“Officers are aware of the video circulating and this incident is being investigated. We ask that anyone with information call 101, quoting 44200131031.”
