We've all been there. You're at a pub quiz and you are 100 per cent sure that you've gotten a question right, only for the quiz master to read out an answer that's completely different.

"Oh no! This isn't happening. There has to be a mistake," you think. How can we solve this gross injustice? There's only one thing for it: an argument with the quiz master themselves.

This could go one way or the other. Either they concede that they are wrong or they stand their ground embarrassing you in front of the entire pub, forcing you to leave with your head hung in shame.

This has happened to this particular writer on far too many occasions, the most notable of which was when a quizmaster got the name of a Sham 69 song wrong and wouldn't accept his mistake.

Anyway, over on Twitter, journalist David Whitley has asked the masses what's the most pedantic argument they've ever gotten into with the head honcho at a pub quiz and some of the answers are amazing.

David started off with two great examples of pub quiz arguments, one being about the capital of Sri Lanka and the other about the first man to circumnavigate the globe.

Once the replies started to come in they brought back a lot of bad memories of poor pub quiz officiating.

A lot of the responses were down to the specific wording of the question.

Yeah, we're not sure about this one.

This one actually happened on television.

We can't believe this one actually happened. Who is that much of a jobsworth?

Even if people succeeded in overturning the decision they still remain upset.
