Kate Garraway has revealed that her husband Derek Draper remains “very ill” with coronavirus.

On Friday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, the TV presenter’s co-host Ben Shephard shared an update on Draper’s condition on Garraway’s behalf.

“Derek remains in intensive care and is still very ill. I’m afraid it remains an excruciatingly worrying time,” the message began.

“The NHS team who have been working on him have all been extraordinary and I know that it’s only their professionalism, dedication and bravery that has kept Derek with us so far.

“I also know that they’re working just as hard on all the patients in their care.”

The message continued: “It’s hard to find the right words because thank you alone isn’t enough but I do thank them because I know Derek would if he could.”

Garraway concluded her update by thanking everyone who had sent messages of support and apologised for not being able to respond to them all.

“However, in quieter moments, I am seeing them and they are so comforting and wonderful to read,” she added.

Garraway also said she is aware she is far from the only person with a partner in intensive care due to Covid-19 and that there are thousands of people worried that their loved ones could be “taken by this horrific virus”.

“I want to send a message of love and support to everyone going through this,” she added.

“You are not alone, we must all stand together and support each other.”
