Cronut® creator Dominique Ansel is a big fan of British afternoon tea.

And so it is hardly surprising that the prolific creative has put his own twist into this great classic.

This video shows a sneak peek at what the James Beard Award-winning pastry chef’s delectable afternoon tea menu, now available at his Belgravia bakery.

The menu follows the path of a seed growing and blossoming into a full-bloomed flower beginning with savoury bites and ending with a selection of sweets.

So, guests are presented with their dishes served on handmade ceramic-tiered stand with a “seed” at the base that gradually sprouts and blossoms as they work their way up through the menu.

"We wanted to start a tradition of our own here at the bakery planting the seeds for our first take on afternoon tea.

“For us, creativity – no matter if you’re a chef, an artist, a musician, or in any field – stems from having strong foundations,” the 2017 World’s Best Pastry Chef winner said.

"So we evolved that idea into a menu that starts from the ground up and is presented in a fresh and modern way. I’m excited to see it grow and come to life," he added.

Afternoon Tea is served Thursday - Sunday, between midday and 4pm at Dominique Ansel Bakery, 17-21 Elizabeth Street, London, SW1W 9RP.
