Stanley Tucci has won over the internet by sharing a video of himself making a negroni cocktail at home during the coronavirus lockdown.

Tucci, who lives in west London with his wife Felicity Blunt (sister of Emily Blunt), shared the Instagram video on Monday evening with the caption: "Drink up!"

With soft jazz music playing in the background, the three-minute clip shows Tucci mixing the ingredients (gin, vermouth, campari and ice) in a cocktail shaker.

The 59-year-old says “lots of people” prefer Negroni on the rocks but he likes it “[served] up a little” as he begins to make the cocktail, which fans have labelled a "quarantucci".

The actor starts by adding ice to the mix, although he takes it from the ice bucket with his bare hands rather than tongs and then drops it all over the floor – “the most hygienic way,” he says.

He then continues to add a double shot of gin (which he says you can switch for vodka if that is your preference) with a shot of vermouth and a shot of campari.

Tucci finishes by pouring it into a coupe glass but says that viewers can use a Martini glass instead (or honestly, at this point, any vessel you have to hand).

And adding a pre-prepared slice of orange: “This is how we buy them in Florida – pre-sliced,” he jokes before confirming “that was a joke by the way”.

During the video his wife Felicity comments on his alcoholic concoction, which he calls the “ubiquitous Milanese cocktail”, and tries to take a sip before he does.

Fans replied to the video saying: “The person I want to be in lockdown with is Stanley Tucci”.

Another said: “WE STAN TUCCI”.

“I don’t even like negronis but if Stanley Tucci made me one I would drink a dozen,” said another.
