Michelle Visage slams Jessie J as ‘cold’ and ‘not nice’ during Drag Race appearance

British singer previously performed during a Drag Race tour of Australia

Drag Race judge Michelle Visage has slammed Jessie J for being “cold” and “not nice” after meeting her during a promotional tour for the show.

Speaking to Gay Times, Visage heaped praise on Nicki Minaj, who recently served as a guest judge on the long-running drag contest, and contrasted her behaviour with that of previous stars she had encountered.

“She was genuine, honest and herself,” Visage said. “When superstars come in, you don’t know what you’re going to get. You don’t know if they’re going to be standoffish, not nice, a total cold person like Jessie J was to us when we did the tour in Australia.”

“I don’t care if you put that in there,” Visage added. “It wasn’t nice.”

Visage explained that she had been eager to meet the British singer, and was left disappointed.

“She wasn’t nice. I was so excited and then I was like, ‘Boo!’ Let me tell you, there’s few voices that could hold up to hers. That bitch can sang, oh my god. It made me sad, which is why I don’t want to meet Madonna. I don’t want to be let down!”

Visage previously went into greater detail about her interaction with Jessie. On a 2016 episode of the RuPaul: What’s the Tee? podcast, Visage claimed that Jessie, who was performing on the show’s promotional tour of Australia, refused to interact with her and a number of Drag Race queens.

“She stood there with all of us outside, surrounded by these people, who were making a human forcefield around her,” Visage said. “She never said hi, walked off about 100 feet that way and talked on her phone, was Snapchatting, doing everything, never introduced herself, never said thank you, never said hi, her people never even acknowledged us.

“She came into our house and never said thank you, hello, anything. Didn’t even associate until right before I was about to bring her on … Broke my heart! When you come to people’s house, you say hi. I was so disappointed because I loved her – I still love her voice, nothing’s gonna take away that voice. But I’m let down.”

Visage previously participated as a contestant on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing, and will host her own BBC chat show, titled Get Off Your Ass, later in 2020.
