Hillary Clinton advert from 2008 spoofs The Sopranos final scene

A bizarre campaign advert by Hillary Clinton has resurfaced, in which the politician parodies the The Sopranos’ famous final scene.

The spoof – starring the future secretary of state and her husband and former US president, Bill – was seemingly a creative way of announcing Clinton’s 2008 campaign song, Celine Dion’s “You and I”.

In the parody, Hillary (playing the character of mafia boss Tony Soprano) can be seen browsing jukebox selections in a diner booth alongside Bill (Carmela).

Hillary, in an attempt to be healthy, orders carrots for the table instead of onion rings, the snack enjoyed by the Soprano family.

Just like Tony’s daughter Meadow in the series, Chelsea pulls up in her car outside and struggles with parallel parking.

Sopranos actor Vince Curatola even makes a cameo, despite his character Johnny Sack having died of cancer long before the show’s finale.

The clip was unearthed by journalist Jeremy Kaplowitz and shared on Twitter, where he wrote: “It’s making me go fully insane”.

The video ends just as the Sopranos scene does, by suddenly cutting to black. It has long been debated whether Tony dies at the end of the drama – and Hillary’s campaign video hints she may meet a gruesome end, too.

The Sopranos originally ran on HBO for seven seasons between 1999 and 2007 and won 21 Emmys over that time. It starred James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano and Edie Falco as his wife Carmela.

Some fans of the show only recently discovered that Lady Gaga appeared in a 2001 episode when she was 15.
