Samsung-users may soon find themselves unable to watch their favourite Netflix shows, as the streaming service will no longer be available on some TV models.

In a statement posted to Samsung’s website, the company has announced that Netflix will no longer be supported on some of its TVs due to “technical limitations”.

According to the tech giant, the inability to use Netflix will begin on 1 December 2019 and will affect older smart TVs.

“Due to technical limitations, Netflix will no longer be supported on some devices beginning on 1 December 2019,” the statement reads. “Some older Samsung smart TVs are affected by this change.

“In the future, Netflix can be viewed from many other devices capable of connecting to your TV.”

Samsung also shared a list of the Netflix-compatible devices, before ensuring that “as long as you have one of the supported devices, like a game console, streaming media player, or set-top box, you’ll still be able to watch Netflix on your TV.”

Some Roku users have also begun receiving notifications that their devices will no longer have access to Netflix come December, with Roku also citing "technical difficulties".

The announcement comes after Netflix revealed in October it is looking into ways of limiting password sharing on the streaming service.

At the time, Greg Peters, Netflix’s chief product officer, said the company was “looking at the situation”.
